AECOM’s design team in Glasgow is a dynamic multi‑disciplinary collaborative team working on many interesting and different sized schemes for both local and international clients. We work closely with our engineers and specialists in‑house. Project / Design Responsibilities
- Contribute, from the onset of a project to the design of innovative and progressive design solutions that reconcile client’s goals and priorities while fostering opportunities for design excellence.
- To perform material and building system research and participate in the co‑ordination and preparation of project specifications.
- Ensuring CDM Safety in Design.
Managerial Responsibilities
- Organises own and technical staff to achieve set deadlines.
- Ensures that projects are completed on time and meet all requirements of the Design Brief and Client requirement documents.
- Responsible for the correctness, accuracy and complete multi‑disciplinary coordination of the design documentation prepared by the assigned team.
- Ensures the quality of technical work produced by team meets AECOM’s Technical Excellence standards.
- Routinely interacts with managers, seniors and clients, contractors, local authority representatives and others expertise and negotiation skills to resolve critical issues.
- Promotes teamwork within a multi‑disciplinary team, maintaining positive moral and instilling a creative culture within the practice.
- Make appropriate value judgements with respect to corrective work that supports the design concept and performance goals of the project.
- Support Principals and/or Directors with operational responsibilities which includes development and implementing Technical Excellence initiatives, management of resources (HR), training initiatives (CPD).
- Ensures the latest software and digital techniques are utilised to increase productivity and training opportunities for staff are made available.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a fully qualified and registered Architect (ARB Registered).
- Proficient in Revit.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe and Microsoft Office Programmes.
- Understanding of BIM Level 2 requirements and processes.
- Experience with BREEAM/DREAM (desirable).
- Excellent understanding of the English and Scottish Building Regulations.
- Familiar with statutory consent procedures in Scotland and England.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to speak in public and lead design team and client meetings.
- Experience as Lead Discipline, in multi‑discipline projects.
- Self‑motivated and pro‑active with ability to work collaboratively with Architectural team and other disciplines and also deliver as an individual.
- Experience of undertaking interdisciplinary design checks to a high standard.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on UK Defence Projects as well as Education (desirable), Industrial (desirable) and Health (desirable).
- Experience of running/working on multiple jobs simultaneously, which can be fast paced.
- Experience working with multi‑stakeholder clients and framework project delivery.
- Experience working on projects in Scotland and England.
- Experience working on listed building projects (desirable).
- Experience working in multi‑disciplinary design teams.
Specific Role Requirements Item
In order to achieve the security requirements for our Clients, the candidate needs to be a UK National, been in the UK for more than 5 years and not been out of the country for more than 3 months in the 5 year period. Furthermore, the candidate should be a sole British National UK Passport holder only for Security Clearance requirements.
