Job Overview

Ultra Maritime is a global leader in advanced maritime defence solutions. The role supports the design, development and delivery of marine‑critical mechanical components, ensuring high functionality, manufacturability and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Identify appropriate materials and processes to guarantee product quality, performance and manufacturability.
  • Use engineering software and modelling tools to plan, develop and refine mechanical parts or components.
  • Communicate conceptual designs and detailed specifications to stakeholders and present findings at peer and design reviews.
  • Develop solutions for intermediate‑to‑semi‑complex problems, managing projects on‑time, on‑budget and to the required quality.
  • Write reports and provide technical documentation of work performed.
  • Offer training and support to new team members.
  • Include considerations for safety, environmental protection and compliance in all design stages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience or recognised apprenticeship in mechanical design and development.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with CAD and design software.

Security Requirements

The role requires a Baseline Personnel Security Standard Check (BPSS) at minimum; certain positions may need further national security vetting. Candidates must provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment/education history for up to three years. Full security clearance may be required for some vacancies.
