Project Controls Manager – responsible for establishing the budget‑loaded programme, monitoring, controlling and reporting systems to meet contract and works information requirements, and facilitating successful delivery of a major project on the HS2 London Tunnels Contract.
HS2 is the UK’s new high‑speed rail network, connecting eight of the country’s ten biggest cities with fast, reliable, and frequent services. The role involves twin‑bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition & reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and site compound construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain and improve project procedures and tools.
- Liaise and assist with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and manage schedules.
- Plan and manage resources.
- Manage costs.
- Handle change management.
- Execute earned‑value management.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities.
- Produce reports on progress, critical paths, resources, earned value and schedule risks for client and company.
- Capture and monitor project risks, issues, mitigations and resolutions.
- Lead technical/programme presentations and negotiations with clients, partners and suppliers.
- Manage Project Control Engineer(s) and other staff as appropriate.
- Apply client and joint‑venture partners’ environmental and sustainability policies, processes and statutory requirements to project operations.
Essential Qualifications
- Project management experience.
- Numeracy and ability to create and use Excel spreadsheets.
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both interpersonal and written.
Desirable Qualifications
- Civil or other engineering degree, or Project Control specific qualifications.
- Experience with Power BI, P6 and other Project Control software (PRISM, iTWO, etc.).
