The Role: Workshop Technician

As a Workshop Technician at ORCA, you will play a vital role in the assembly, refurbishment, testing, and maintenance of diving and offshore support equipment. Working within our workshop team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring equipment is prepared to the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.



Key Responsibilities

·        Assemble, maintain, and test mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and technical specifications.

·        Carry out pipefitting activities, including the fabrication, installation, modification, and testing of pipework and instrument tubing systems.

·        Perform the removal, installation, overhaul, and refurbishment of mechanical components and assemblies.

·        Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation to support workshop activities.

·        Conduct dimensional inspections and measurements using calibrated equipment.

·        Identify defects, wear, or damage to components and provide detailed condition reports to the Project Engineer.

·        Support pressure testing, leak testing, and functional testing of mechanical and piping systems.

·        Clean, preserve, and prepare equipment for deployment, storage, or transportation.

·        Assist with the mobilisation and demobilisation of diving and offshore support equipment.

·        Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organised condition.

·        Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, quality standards, and client requirements.

·        Record defects, non-conformances, and maintenance activities through the Quality Management System.

·        Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements and exercise Stop Work Authority when required.

·        Actively participate in safety initiatives, including pressure safety, lifting operations, and risk assessments.

What We’re Looking For

·        Time-served Mechanical Technician, Fitter, Pipefitter, or relevant engineering qualification.

·        Experience in mechanical assembly, pipefitting, hydraulic systems, or offshore/subsea equipment.

·        Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.

·        Experience working with stainless steel tubing, compression fittings, and instrument pipework is desirable.

·        Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

·        Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·        Flexible approach to work and willingness to support offshore or site activities when required.
