Job Description:

The role provides Compliance support for Senior Managers & NEDs in key Functions, Certification, Conduct Rules, Fitness and Propriety, including regulatory applications, regulatory references and Responsibilities Maps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on Certification, including process, assessment, requirements and categorisation.
  • Support ongoing and ad‑hoc reviews of the Certification population and framework.
  • Support SMF/NED/CERT on SMCR or STAR system matters.
  • Prepare evidence of fitness and propriety for regulatory applications in collaboration with HRBP and business managers.
  • Review supporting documents (competency maps, induction/development plans) and provide feedback.
  • Brief new SMF on SMCR roles and responsibilities and duties required for SMF application.
  • Maintain and update Responsibilities maps (MRMs) for all UK regulated entities, liaising with Company Secretariat and stakeholders.
  • Provide ad‑hoc SMCR training and support conduct rules training, including CBT Policy governance and risk processes.
  • Administer maintenance of the SMCR team desk procedures and guidance materials.
  • Coordinate monthly SMCR Governance Forum packs and minutes.
  • Work with Employee Relations to record and submit conduct breaches within FCA timetables.
  • Maintain a tracker of all regulatory applications underway, in‑flight and future requirements.
  • Identify system issues, liaise with the SMCR system provider team to resolve tickets, and monitor system performance metrics.
  • Act as SMCR system superuser, manage relationships with other systems (e.g. HR) and provide cross‑function support on all SMCR team work.

Knowledge Statements

  • In‑depth knowledge of SMCR and its requirements, and ability to research and provide advice on technical points across the PRA and FCA rulebooks.
  • Strong presentation skills, including the creation of professional PowerPoint content.
  • Knowledge of MI/Reporting and ability to produce clear reports.
  • In‑depth knowledge of regulatory application processes, including systems, forms and evidence expectations.

Experience Statements

  • Previous exposure to regulation, risk and controls or a governance role.
  • Experience applying regulation to people processes (on‑the‑job or through qualifications).
  • Experience with HR systems or SMCR compliance systems is useful.
  • Experience with MI/Reporting is desirable.
  • Background in HR, governance or compliance.
