Associate Director
A senior role responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and delivering tax services, including complex HMRC enquiries and voluntary disclosures.
Overview
As an Associate Director, you will manage a client portfolio and ensure timely delivery of services. You support Partners/Directors with complex HMRC enquiries and voluntary disclosures, contribute to marketing and business development, and build sustainable internal and external client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Partners/Directors on the Tax strategic framework.
- Manage daily running of HMRC enquiries or disclosures for a client portfolio.
- Prepare investigation and disclosure reports, including computational aspects, for submission to HMRC Specialist Investigations.
- Liaise with clients, contacts, and parties to ensure work is completed on desired timescales.
- Prepare agendas for meetings with clients and HMRC and ensure follow‑up.
- Develop work plans and coordinate with the partner/director.
- Participate in settlement negotiations or provide advice to the partner.
- Recruit, retain, develop and motivate junior staff, including recruitment and development planning.
- Manage billing and collection for portfolio clients.
- Identify and recognise business and sales opportunities and inform the Partner/Director.
- Maintain a network of professional and business contacts.
- Act as an ambassador of the firm, participate in marketing events, and suggest innovative products and services.
Requirements
- CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified (or overseas equivalent), or relevant HMRC experience.
- Post‑qualified experience across all aspects of tax dispute resolution.
- Strong experience of HMRC enquiries and voluntary disclosures.
- Report writing and tax computational experience.
- Excellent client relationship, project management, and business management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Previous people‑management experience with ability to develop team members.
- Collaboration and teamwork.
