Job Description
As aApprentice Pastry Chef, you will gainhands‑on experiencein a professional kitchen while working towards aqualification. Under the guidance of experienced Holroyd Howe chefs, you will learn essential skills, including:
- Food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation skills
- Working efficiently in a fast‑paced kitchen environment
- Understanding and maintainingfood hygiene, safety, and allergen regulations
- Assisting in the production of high‑quality meals for students, staff, and special events
- Learning how to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to createhealthy and delicious dishes
- Supporting stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation
Qualifications
- A keen interest in cooking and professional catering
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred) – if not already achieved, support will be provided to complete these as part of the apprenticeship
- A willingness to learn and work towards a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship
- A strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and commitment to training
- Previous kitchen experience (not essential, but beneficial)
- A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (if not held, training will be provided)
- Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and hygiene standards
