About The Role
As Goods Receiver at The Derby London City, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel by ensuring all deliveries are received, checked, stored, and recorded accurately. Working closely with Finance, Kitchen, Food & Beverage and Housekeeping teams, you will help maintain high standards of organisation, hygiene, compliance and stock control across all goods receiving and storage areas. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisation skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining operational and financial accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and check all deliveries, ensuring quantities, quality and packaging meet hotel standards
- Verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes, reporting discrepancies promptly
- Record all deliveries accurately within BirchStreet and maintain clear delivery records
- Ensure all goods are stored correctly and stock rotation procedures (FIFO) are followed
- Carry out compliance checks including temperatures, expiry dates and storage standards
- Maintain clean, organised and hygienic loading bay and storage areas at all times
- Liaise with departments regarding incoming deliveries, shortages, substitutions or delays
- Assist with Housekeeping deliveries and contractor access procedures
- Support health & safety compliance through regular inspections and safe working practices
- Work closely with the Financial Controller and operational teams to support cost control and minimise wastage

- Good communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
- Understanding of stock rotation and safe storage procedures
- Confident using systems and handling administrative tasks accurately
About You
- Previous experience in a Goods Receiver, Stores, Stock Control or similar operational role
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene and manual handling procedures
- Reliable, organised and able to remain calm during busy delivery periods
- Flexible and adaptable within a fast-paced hotel environment
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership in your work
- Experience within a hotel or hospitality environment advantageous
- Experience using procurement or stock-control systems such as BirchStreet desirable
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and reporting tools preferred
