There is an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapy Assistant within our Community Respiratory Team based at Wythenshawe Hospital. The team is committed to delivering high quality care across South Manchester to support individuals living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other long‑term respiratory conditions.
As part of a multi‑disciplinary team of specialist respiratory nurses and physiotherapists, the post holder will support the delivery of expert assessment, treatment and education in the community. The role involves working within a nationally accredited Pulmonary Rehabilitation service assisting registered staff with objective assessments such as questionnaires and exercise testing. The exercise and education classes require an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is passionate about improving patients’ health. Flexibility is essential, as the role supports administrative tasks, community clinics, oxygen services and home visits on occasion.
The successful candidate will work within their clinical boundaries, actively contribute to team development and help drive continuous service improvement. It is essential to drive a car for business use and have a UK‑approved driving licence, as you will be expected to drive to community locations on a daily basis.
Key responsibilities
- Lead group exercise sessions and facilitate group education as part of Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including appointment booking, clinical record keeping, audit data entry and contributing to service development.
- Conduct home visits to assist with treatment delivery under the guidance of nurses and physiotherapists, including equipment set‑up and completing objective measures.
- Support the community oxygen service and contribute to its development.
Qualifications & skills
- Excellent communication skills essential to motivate patients.
- Competent computer skills.
- Valid UK driving licence and ability to drive for business use.
