As a Progression Job Coach in the Employment, Skills and Enterprise team, you’ll work directly with Participants on the Restart scheme to help them overcome barriers and move into sustainable employment. Your work will have a direct, positive impact on individuals, communities and their future prospects. You’ll empower people to build confidence, develop practical skills and navigate their way into work by tailoring support to each person’s needs — creating an environment grounded in trust, care and purposeful coaching so they can progress with confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personal performance targets, Key Performance Indicators and Customer Service Standards.
  • Assess Participants’ pre‑employment needs and develop personalised action plans that support their journey into sustainable work.
  • Coach a caseload of Participants using a range of strategies that build their confidence, skills and readiness for employment.
  • Provide practical support such as CV writing, application guidance, interview preparation and job‑search support.
  • Engage with employers to identify suitable opportunities, matching Participants to roles that reflect their skills and aspirations.
  • Offer flexible support and signposting to wraparound services, specialist provision and internal resources as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of all Participant activity.
  • Work in line with the Delivery Assurance Framework to meet contractual and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high service levels, even during periods of absence or change.
  • Carry out any other duties aligned to the responsibility level of the post.

Qualifications

  • Experience coaching, influencing and supporting people through positive change.
  • A genuine passion for helping Participants grow and succeed.
  • Ideally, experience in Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), teaching or the employability sector.
  • Experience working in a performance‑driven environment.
  • A Level 3 IAG, education or equivalent qualification — or the willingness to work towards one.
  • Strong knowledge of local labour markets and recruitment practices.
  • Confident IT skills across Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload.
  • High standards of accuracy, quality and integrity.

Vetting and Checks

A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position, including spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be completed to ensure you have the necessary support to perform your duties.
