Salary: GBP28.49 – GBP29.31 per hour + holiday pay in addition

Recruiting a Skilled / Indentured Grinder on night shift, to join a well‑established aerospace manufacturing site in Yeovil, Somerset.

The role involves the precision grinding of aerospace components in line with manufacturing instructions, engineering specifications, and customer/regulatory requirements.

Role: Grinder (Night shift) – Aerospace Manufacturing

Location: Yeovil

Night Shift (following up to 1 month of training)

  • Sunday night 10pm – Monday morning 7am (1 shift)
  • Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs night midnight – 7am (4 shifts)

£28.49 per hour (Skilled Worker) or £29.31 per hour (indentured Skilled Worker)

Please note whilst training on day shift, the pay will be a day‑shift pay rate of £18.99 – £19.54 per hour.

All rates attract holiday pay in addition (An extra 12.07% per hour).

Main Responsibilities:

  • Internal and external grinding using MDI (Manual Data Input) CNC machinery
  • Surface grinding and thread grinding
  • Operator Control of Quality (OCQ), including stamping to confirm product quality
  • Ensuring on‑time delivery by completing work to the required standard
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and following documented processes
  • Working effectively within a lean manufacturing environment

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering apprenticeship (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace grinding tolerances and finishes, including:
  • 0.0002” internal/external diameter
  • 2–4 microinch surface finishes
  • Concentricity to 0.0002”
  • Honing experience
  • Competent use of precision measuring equipment, including:
  • Comparators
  • Air plug gauges
  • Surface finish measuring equipment
  • High standard of Health & Safety awareness
  • Customer‑focused approach with the ability to meet production targets
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and designers
  • Understanding of aerospace practices and safety‑critical work
  • PC literate

Vetting will include a right to work check, drug screen, 5 years’ referencing and a DBS check.
