Care Assistant for a gentleman (P/T) – £12.21/hr, Norton, Stockton-on-Tees (TS20)

Personal Assistant (PA) – Norton Area

Flexible weekday hours – early afternoons/lunchtimes.

We are looking for a friendly and caring Personal Assistant to support a gentleman in Norton. He is easy‑going, enjoys a good chat, and loves sharing memories and discussing topics such as history, travel, and geography. His mood can vary day‑to‑day due to dementia, so a calm, patient and understanding approach is important.

About the Role

The role is varied and centred around offering companionship, encouragement, and practical support. Tasks may include:

• Supporting him to access the community when he feels up to it – including occasional trips to the pub
• Preparing a simple lunch or making a coffee
• Providing company, conversation and gentle engagement
• Being aware of and responsive to changes in his mood
• Assisting with mobility – he walks with a stick and benefits from flatter, accessible routes
• Occasional personal care, such as support with incontinence wear if needed

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Warm, approachable, and able to build a positive connection
• Supportive and reassuring, with a good sense of when to gently encourage
• Comfortable engaging in conversation and taking an interest in his hobbies
• Understanding of the “good days and bad days” that dementia can bring
• Experienced in dementia support or simply someone with the right attitude, patience and empathy

• Flexible weekday hours
• Early afternoon/lunchtime availability preferred
