THE BUSINESS
Based in Consett, our client is a well-established and forward-thinking engineering business specialising in the reverse engineering and refurbishment of rotating equipment. Supporting a wide range of industrial sectors, they provide expert servicing, repair, and overhaul solutions across all types of pumps.
THE ROLE
- Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings using a range of manual lathes
- Work to fine tolerances (up to 0.02mm) ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Produce high-quality parts within agreed timeframes to meet production schedules
- Adhere to all safety and quality procedures, contributing to ongoing process improvements
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and British Standards
- Support internal teams in identifying and resolving technical or production issues
- Operate within a varied machine shop environment handling a wide range of components
- Collaborate with a small team to maintain efficiency and high standards across the workshop
THE PERSON
- Time-served machinist with experience in manual turning
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
- Confident working with both metric and imperial measurements
- Experience working to tight tolerances with strong attention to detail
- Additional machining skills (milling, boring, grinding, slotting) are advantageous but not essential
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of work
- Team player with a flexible and proactive approach
