Band: 3

Salary: £25,760 – £27,476 per annum pro rata

Job Overview

A flexible multi‑disciplinary healthcare environment covering wards, district nursing, acute inpatient, forensic, outpatients, community and clinic work. This role requires enthusiastic, motivated, caring and compassionate staff who can support people with their physical and mental well‑being.

Main Duties

  • Deliver a high standard of care across all areas of healthcare under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Provide support and care for service users with mental and physical health needs and their carers in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Assist in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Ensure equality, diversity and rights matters are addressed in line with best practice and legislation.
  • Promote a positive service user experience through proactive listening, responsiveness to issues and resolution of concerns.
  • Maintain professional conduct towards service users, carers, colleagues and other agencies.
  • Provide personal care, demonstrating empathy, dignity, respect and compassion.
  • Communicate with relatives/carers, establish their needs and support them.
  • Accurate and timely recording in nursing notes, with counter‑signature by the registered nurse.
  • Partner with service users to access activities and services that maintain independence.
  • Promote healthy activities and lifestyle choices.
  • Support registered staff in physical health, comfort and wellbeing of service users, including monitoring vital signs.
  • Provide information about treatment, medication, services, advocacy, ward routines and safety procedures.
  • Ensure food and fluids are served according to policy.

Person Specification

Education

  • Educated to GCE/GCSE (Maths and English) or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working with people with mental health problems.

Skills

  • Effective communication skills, verbally and written, including IT literacy (MS Office).
