Haeata Community Campus is seeking a caring and enthusiastic kaiako to support our junior ākonga in a nurturing sensory space. This role will provide a calm environment where ākonga can regulate, settle, and transition smoothly into their learning day and into their puna.
We need a kaiako that can cope with high stressful situations
Key responsibilities
- Provide a calm, small-group space for junior ākonga needing extra support Lead engaging activities that support social-emotional wellbeing
- Facilitate daily check-ins and whakatau wairua
- Support smooth transitions into learning spaces
- Work collaboratively with kaiako and whānau
Our successful applicant will
- Able to process complex and diverse needs for our ākonga and whānau.
- Build strong relationships with ākonga, whānau, and kaimahi
- Be confident teaching across the Year 1–4 curriculum
- Use positive behaviour strategies to maintain a calm environment
- Work collaboratively in shared learning spaces
