Haeata Community Campus is seeking a caring and enthusiastic kaiako to support our junior ākonga in a nurturing sensory space. This role will provide a calm environment where ākonga can regulate, settle, and transition smoothly into their learning day and into their puna.

We need a kaiako that can cope with high stressful situations

Key responsibilities

  • Provide a calm, small-group space for junior ākonga needing extra support Lead engaging activities that support social-emotional wellbeing
  • Facilitate daily check-ins and whakatau wairua
  • Support smooth transitions into learning spaces
  • Work collaboratively with kaiako and whānau

Our successful applicant will

  • Able to process complex and diverse needs for our ākonga and whānau.
  • Build strong relationships with ākonga, whānau, and kaimahi
  • Be confident teaching across the Year 1–4 curriculum
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to maintain a calm environment
  • Work collaboratively in shared learning spaces

Haeata Community Campus is a Year 1–13 urban area school located in Christchurch East.
