Apply for the Production Soldering Technician (Micro-Soldering)
Location: St Helens
Job Description:

KO2’s client, based in St Helens, designs and manufactures complex IP and WAN-based connectors for communication devices. Due to rapid growth and increased production demand, they are seeking experienced Micro‑Soldering Technicians to join their onsite team permanently

The Role

You will be responsible for precision soldering of small‑scale, high‑density multi‑pin connectors (including Fisher connectors) used within advanced communication systems.

The work involves:

  • Micro‑soldering very small hollow pins arranged concentrically
  • Working under a microscope due to extremely tight pin spacing
  • Preventing solder bridging and pin contamination
  • Terminating fine multi‑strand cable assemblies
  • Supporting electrical test (pass/fail) and fault identification
  • Ensuring assemblies meet high‑reliability standards before potting and overmoulding
  • Proven experience in micro‑soldering / fine‑pitch soldering
  • Experience soldering small multi‑pin connectors or PCB components
  • Confident working under magnification (microscope essential)
  • Strong understanding of solder joint quality and defect prevention
  • Ability to avoid bridging on closely spaced pins
  • Background in electronics manufacturing, cable assembly, or connector assembly
  • Comfortable working in a production environment with growing volumes
  • Experience within military, aerospace, or high‑reliability sectors
  • Knowledge of IPC standards (e.g. IPC‑A‑610)
  • Exposure to cable overmoulding processes

This is a key hire within a growing manufacturing cell where quality and precision are critical.

If you have the required micro‑soldering expertise and are looking for a stable permanent opportunity in St Helens, we would like to hear from you.
