Birmingham Children’s Trust is dedicated to positively impacting the lives of over 10,000 children and young people in Birmingham. As a family‑support worker on the Safeguarding Team, you will provide focused safeguarding services for children, young people, and their families involved in Child Protection Enquiries.
We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted after the 2023 inspection, highlighting strengths in staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding, and corporate practice.
Responsibilities
- Act as lead professional for an allocated caseload, coordinating multi‑agency support plans.
- Assist social workers in care planning and deliver evidence‑based interventions to improve outcomes for children and families.
- Arrange family time and child‑family time with parents.
- Champion specialist areas such as domestic abuse, substance misuse, or parenting, providing advice and workshops.
- Maintain high standards of case recording and reporting in line with professional standards.
- Convene and chair case planning and review meetings, ensuring effective partnership working.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, young people, and families in a support or safeguarding role, responding to significant harm.
- Proven ability to engage families when concerns arise.
- Parenting assessment qualification is desirable.
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage and prioritise a complex workload.
- Excellent communication and engagement skills, with a commitment to involving families in decision‑making.
- History of delivering results within fast‑moving and evolving settings.
- Willingness to work outside normal office hours when required.

Other Information
This hybrid role is based in Birmingham; candidates must be resident within a suitable commuting distance and possess the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not supported.
Onboarding includes a series of background checks with Experian, including Experian DBS, Right to Work, and Digital ID verification.
