About The Role

Leeds City College seeks a Public Services Coach to join the Quarry Hill Campus. The School of Public Services supports more than 400 students on courses from Level 1 to Level 3, preparing them for careers within the emergency services, armed forces, and other sectors.

Students learn resilience, confidence, and discipline through practical experience in addition to classroom learning.

What You Will Do

  • Be responsible for a caseload of learners requiring coaching and support as part of their learning programme.
  • Deliver group sessions covering personal, social, health, and economic topics.
  • Support learners to track and monitor progress toward achievement using assessment grades.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to support progression and build positive relationships, and identify when learners require intervention.
  • Identify barriers to learning and implement strategies to overcome them.
  • Develop and agree individual learning plans, set SMART targets, and liaise with subject specialists and other staff.
  • Manage learning across various spaces, creating a positive and focused environment.
  • Facilitate and participate in a range of extracurricular activities.

About You

  • English and Mathematics at Level 2 or above and willingness to improve to Level 3 or above.
  • Experience or qualification in supporting teaching, learning, teaching assistant, or a commitment to obtaining a learning, mentoring or coaching qualification within one year.
  • Passion and ability to inspire and motivate young people towards uniformed services, armed forces, or youth work.
  • Recent teaching or instructing experience demonstrating active learning and differentiated teaching styles.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to meet different learner needs.
