Psychology Graduate – Mental Health Assistant
Overview
Finished your psychology degree and wondering what’s next? This role offers an opportunity to use your training to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a specialist school in Reading.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Work closely with students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to help them feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
- Assist students in managing emotions and developing healthy coping strategies.
- Build trusted relationships that give students confidence and stability.
- Support social development and model positive behaviours.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to provide consistent support.
- Serve as a calm, encouraging presence that students can rely on, especially on difficult days.
