Role Summary
The post holder will be responsible for planning meaningful activities, using practical, communication, and creative skills to provide a flexible programme of group and individual activities on and off the ward. The activities provided will vary depending on the age, culture, interests, gender and needs of the patient group.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and evaluate a range of social and recreational activities for acute, in‑patient wards and community settings, ensuring they are tailored to the age, culture, interests, gender and needs of the patient group.
- Use communication and creative skills to establish professional and respectful relationships with patients, relatives and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining clear boundaries and promoting patient autonomy and choice.
- Manage individuals and groups of patients during social and recreational activities, including those with physical disabilities, health needs, behavioral challenges, learning disabilities or acute episodes of confusion and delirium.
- Contribute to patient assessment by reporting presentations, changes, performance and progress observed during activities.
- Ensure the safe use, storage and maintenance of equipment and materials.
