We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading distribution organisation seeking an experienced Head of Health, Safety & Environment to provide strategic leadership across a large multi-site operation. This is a high-profile role where you’ll influence senior stakeholders, shape long-term Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, and drive a culture where safety, compliance and continuous improvement are embedded throughout the business.
Ideal for someone with experience within Retail, Distribution, Logistics, Wholesale or another complex multi-site operational environment.
What Does the Role Entail?
- Developing and delivering the divisional Health, Safety, Environment and Facilities strategy in line with business objectives.
- Leading Health, Safety, Environment and Facilities Management Systems, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 accreditation and compliance.
- Partnering with senior operational leaders to promote a positive safety culture and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Leading strategic risk management, governance, audit programmes and compliance initiatives.
- Managing incident investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Driving environmental sustainability initiatives, business resilience and facilities compliance across multiple locations.
- Producing meaningful performance reporting and using data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Influencing senior stakeholders to ensure Health, Safety and Environmental considerations remain central to operational decision-making.
- Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing HSE team while building capability across the wider business.
- Ensuring legislative compliance while identifying opportunities to improve operational performance and reduce organisational risk.
Skills & Experience
- NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Significant leadership experience within Health & Safety across a multi-site operational environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 Management Systems.
- Proven experience developing and leading successful Health & Safety strategies.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience influencing senior stakeholders across complex organisations.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Passion for continuous improvement, compliance and creating a positive safety culture.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced operational environment.
