Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer/Typist within Business Administration, Mental Health Services, North Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership based at Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine. This post is offered on a fixed‑term basis for 9 months.

Hours And Shift Pattern

36 hours per week. Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday & Thursday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and Thursday 9.00 am to 4.30 pm.

What You Will Do

You will provide a comprehensive, confidential clerical and administrative support service to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Unscheduled Care Team.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and experience

Qualifications include: education to ‘O’ Grade / Standard Grade Credit or National 5 in English and Maths; possession of an SVQ Level II qualification in Administration or equivalent experience; and a recognised IT qualification in Microsoft Office packages. Advanced keyboard skills and experience of electronic filing systems management are required, along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint. Experience working within an NHS environment and understanding of NHS inter‑disciplinary networks are desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strict adherence to confidentially with a knowledge of GDPR compliance, and flexibility to adapt to changes and last‑minute demands are essential.

UK Driving Licence

Full UK Driving Licence is desirable as you may be required to travel across various sites/bases within Ayrshire & Arran.

To work in the United Kingdom, a relevant permission to work must be demonstrated. This is granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. NHS Ayrshire & Arran may offer visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to a minimum salary threshold and other criteria. Sponsorship is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis following interview and pre‑employment checks. Banking contracts or Band 2 posts are not eligible for sponsorship.
