About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented CNC Setter/Operator to join our Advanced Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate setup and operation of CNC machines, ensuring high‑quality components are produced efficiently and delivered on time. Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Operation

  • Set up and configure CNC machines in line with technical drawings and job specifications
  • Select and install appropriate tooling and workholding
  • Load raw materials and ensure correct positioning and alignment
  • Verify NC programs, coordinates and tool geometries
  • Optimize machine settings for performance and precision
  • Conduct simulation checks, dry runs, and in‑process inspections
  • Modify or produce workholding as required
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety

Quality Assurance & Process Control

  • Inspect finished components to ensure compliance with specifications and GD&T
  • Identify and report programming issues for correction
  • Record inspection data and production information accurately
  • Monitor processes and proactively address wear or dimensional variation
  • Support improvements to meet production deadlines and minimise delays

Tooling, Workholding & Materials

  • Select, assemble, and maintain cutting tools and fixtures
  • Ensure materials and parts are handled correctly with full traceability

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

  • Diagnose and resolve machining issues such as tool breakage, poor finish, or machine alarms
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and upkeep
  • Apply 6S and TPM practices to maintain an organised workspace
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are followed

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all PPE and safety requirements
  • Follow company health & safety policies and relevant legislation
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives

Teamwork & Communication

  • Support and mentor trainees or apprentices
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, programming, quality, and maintenance teams

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CNC Setter or similar role
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Team player with good communication skills
