Job Title and Contract
Part‑time Female Support Worker – 12 hour contract in Thurso.
Responsibilities
- Provide care and support to a lady with Down syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder who lives at home with her father.
- Plan and participate in activities such as music, dancing, daily picnics and day trips.
- Ensure all activities are carried out safely, respecting her fear of dogs by using the vehicle for outings.
- Support her daily routines, including meal preparation, dressing and personal care.
- Maintain a friendly, reliable and honest relationship, building trust and respect.
- Assist with household tasks and maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Support communication with her family, especially her father and brother.
Working Hours
- Monday, Wednesday and Sunday: 9 am–9 pm, 9 am–4 pm or 4 pm–9 pm.
- Tuesday and Thursday: 9 am–10 pm.
- Friday and Saturday nights: sleepovers.
- Staff required to rotate through all shift types, including sleepovers.
Qualifications and requirements
- Female applicant (genuine occupational requirement).
- UK driving licence and own vehicle (mileage reimbursed at 45 p per mile).
- Experience in supporting people with learning disabilities or autism preferred.
- Patience, compassion and ability to reassure a client with fear of dogs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
