Control Panel Technician | Braintree | up to 32,000 | Early Finish on Fridays

We are recruiting a skilled Control Panel Technician to assemble, wire, and test low-voltage electrical distribution and control panels within a busy workshop environment. This hands-on role requires high standards of workmanship, accuracy, and adherence to safety, quality, and engineering procedures.

The Role

As a Control Panel Technician, you will be responsible for building and wiring electrical control panels and assemblies in line with engineering drawings and specifications. You will ensure all work is completed to a high standard, meeting both technical and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and BOMs
  • Assemble and wire LV distribution panels, control panels, and sub-assemblies
  • Cut, strip, crimp, label, and terminate cables to a high standard
  • Install components including trunking, cable looms, terminals, busbars, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, meters, and sockets
  • Carry out electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance, and functional checks
  • Identify and report drawing discrepancies, missing components, or build issues
  • Work to production schedules and project deadlines
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment

About You

  • Proven experience as a Control Panel Technician, Panel Wireperson, Electrical Fitter, or similar
  • Experience working with low-voltage (up to 400VAC) control and distribution panels
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of BS EN 61439, BS 7671, and switchgear up to 630A is desirable
