We are looking for a Cleaning Operative to work across multiple sites in Manchester, cleaning communal areas. You may be required to work out of hours occasionally. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.
The purpose of the role is to provide high‑standard cleanliness of scheme communal areas and properties by cleaning to agreed standards.
Responsibilities
Cleaning
- General cleaning duties at locations including sheltered/supported/specialist living schemes, blocks of flats, communal areas/communal properties, in accordance with operational cleaning specifications and quality assurance work schedules. Duties include vacuuming, mopping, wiping, dusting, cleaning internal windows/frames and sills, emptying communal bins and bin areas, ensuring areas being cleaned are safe and sign‑off appropriately.
- Carry out ad‑hoc cleaning tasks as required. Use internal software to complete work records.
- Remove discarded syringes and needles and clean hazardous substances when identified or reported, only when trained to do the task.
- Order and restock cleaning supplies and sundries as required.
Health & Safety / Compliance checks / Minor maintenance
- Handle and use cleaning materials in accordance with COSHH regulations, ensuring appropriate PPE is always worn.
- Undertake H&S and compliance checks such as water flushing, water temperature checks, fire alarm testing as identified within dedicated work schedules.
- Carry out daily van and equipment checks inline with health & safety safe systems of work.
- Report repairs and carry out minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs when required.
- Attend requested training courses/seminars.
Requirements
Essential
- Experience delivering cleaning services to a variety of customers.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, acting on instruction as required.
- Ability to use different cleaning methods and equipment (e.g., mopping, dusting, wiping, buffing).
- Follow procedures to meet high standards, prioritise tasks and complete them on time.
- Willingness to cover and work in various areas and perform different duties as requested.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Good customer service skills.
- Good communication skills – written and verbal.
- Ability to follow procedures and provide performance data of operations.
Desirable
- Use of electronic equipment (e.g., smartphone, iPad).
- Experience carrying out facilities checks such as water testing and alarm testing.
Qualifications
Essential
- Knowledge of hygiene regulations.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
Desirable
- Hygiene certificate.
- BICS certification.
