Packing and Despatch Operative

Job Summary

Packing & Dispatch Operative at Imerys Minerals Ltd – West Thurrock.

Salary: £27,642 per annum, permanent, 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Operate big bagging and associated equipment.
• Bulk load lorries, containers and tautliners.
• Maintain concise logs of production.
• Respect all site safety rules.
• Remove FGS pallets from the palletiser and place them in stock, keeping spreadsheets up to date.
• Record operational, quality, safety and environmental information as required.
• Understand internal product specification sheets and quality tests.
• Ensure the palletiser does not run out of pallets or hoods.
• Maintain a clean safe work area.
• Record data for continuous improvement.
• Operate the packing and mixing plant, diagnosing faults through the HMI.
• Receive raw materials and transfer to silos.
• Qualify raw material samples against reference samples.
• Load vehicles and perform FG sampling for laboratory storage.
• Enter data for quality and dispatch areas.

Qualifications

• Fork Lift Truck Licence.
• Experience operating big bagging, packing, and mixing plant equipment, including fault diagnosis via HMI.
• Proven ability to bulk load lorries, containers, and tautliners safely.
• Knowledge of product specifications, quality testing and raw material verification.
• Experience receiving raw materials, transferring to silos, and conducting finished goods sampling.
• Strong record‑keeping skills across production, quality, safety, environmental, and dispatch data.
• Proactive approach to site safety, continuous improvement and maintaining a clean, organised work area.
• Experience managing palletiser operations, stock control and ensuring uninterrupted production flow.
