Internal Vacancy: Acting Service Manager
We are pleased to invite applications for the role of Acting Service Manager within our Service Delivery team.
This is a key leadership opportunity for someone ready to step into a broader strategic and operational role, supporting Regional Leads and driving consistency, quality, and performance across our service.
Role Details
- Location: Nationwide (Hybrid/Remote)
- Contract: Fixed Term (until end of August, pending review)
- Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours)
- Salary: £38,000–£45,000
- Reporting to: Acting Service Director
- Direct Reports: Regional Leads
About the Role
As Acting Service Manager, you will provide day‑to‑day leadership to Regional Leads, ensuring high‑quality, consistent delivery across all regions. You will play a central role in maintaining service standards, supporting performance, and driving improvement initiatives aligned with Nudge’s academic and therapeutic approach.
This role requires a balance of hands‑on operational oversight and strategic thinking, with a strong focus on people, quality, and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Performance
- Lead and support Regional Leads through regular 1:1s and performance reviews
- Set clear expectations and drive accountability across regions
- Identify and address underperformance early
Service Quality & Delivery
- Oversee intervention quality, ensuring it is safe, holistic, and impactful
- Monitor QA data and ensure improvements are embedded
- Maintain consistency in practice and documentation
Operational Management
- Oversee regional performance, capacity, and allocation of practitioners
- Monitor key data (referrals, attendance, IA timelines)
- Respond proactively to risks and pressures
Service Development
- Lead and support improvement projects across the service
- Embed new tools, frameworks, and ways of working
- Track and report on progress against priorities
Collaboration & Safeguarding
- Work closely with the Acting Service Director and wider teams
- Support safeguarding oversight and incident management
- Contribute to investigations and disciplinary processes where required
About You
You will be an experienced leader with a strong track record in service delivery, ideally within alternative provision, therapeutic education, or inclusion services.
Essential
- Strong people management and leadership experience
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Deep understanding of SEND, inclusion, and trauma‑informed practice
- Experience managing performance and driving improvement
- High emotional intelligence and a values‑led approach
Desirable
- Experience working across multi‑regional teams
- Confidence using data to inform decision‑making
- Leadership or management qualification
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel across regions as required
- Enhanced DBS
