Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, or a minimum of 12 if preferred.
This role is more than driving. You will be the face of Tesco on the road, meeting customers in their homes daily. It requires service, care, and a smile.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the van and trays used are clean and tidy.
- Keep the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish; pick up litter as seen.
- Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van as required and check for roadworthiness.
- Discuss any order changes with the customer, including short codes and substitutions, and offer refunds for unsatisfactory items.
- Take care of products and deliveries as if they were own.
- Explain to customers that no additional charges apply for substitutions.
- Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving if early.
- Call the store/centre if running 30 or more minutes late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit.
- Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, and say “Thank you”.
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations.
- Share ideas with manager and colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.
Qualifications
- A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) held for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
