Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Mobile Crane Operator role based in Chesterfield Area. The Mobile Crane Operator will safely operate mobile cranes on customer sites, following lift plans and site instructions to complete lifting operations efficiently and in line with regulations. Responsibilities include conducting pre‑use inspections, setting up cranes and lifting equipment, slinging and signalling in coordination with lift supervisors and site personnel, and accurately following lifting charts and load limits. The role also involves completing required documentation, reporting defects or maintenance needs, and adhering to all health, safety, and environmental procedures. The operator will work closely with our transport and lifting teams to ensure timely, safe delivery and completion of lifting projects.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Lifting Operations, including planning and executing safe lifts in accordance with industry regulations and site procedures.
  • Hands‑on experience operating Heavy Equipment and Cranes in construction, industrial, or engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of Lifting Equipment selection, rigging practices, and safe use of slings, hooks, and related accessories.
  • Ability to perform Inspection of cranes and associated lifting gear, identifying defects and reporting maintenance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work related to crane operations.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow written lift plans, method statements, and verbal instructions.
  • Clean or acceptable driving record; HGV license would be an advantage.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including occasional weekends or overtime, depending on project needs.
  • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to safe working practices.
