Responsibilities
- Prepare ambulances to the agreed standard for operational duty.
- Plan and prepare ambulances to meet strict time deadlines and operational requirements.
- Work at remote and satellite sites, collecting and transporting vehicles between sites as required.
- Visit hospital sites to retrieve LAS equipment, ensuring availability to operational crews.
- Behave consistently with the values and beliefs of the organisation and promote them on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Alert management of any issues or concerns that may affect service provision and safe operation of vehicles.
- Work independently and professionally, managing stressful and changeable situations and competing demands.
- Undertake duties in a safe, effective and efficient manner, as directed by Operational Managers and the Hub Coordinator.
- Maintain Trust‑required standards in the make‑ready process and operating standards, including infection control.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly and report deficiencies promptly to supervisor.
- Self‑manage workload and priorities without direct supervision, balancing equipment shortages and sourcing additional equipment.
- Communicate accurately with colleagues, operational crews, internal and external stakeholders on vehicle status.
- Undertake all driving duties associated with the delivery and collection of equipment, consumables and larger vehicles.
- Complete all statutory and mandatory training in line with Trust policy appropriate to the role.
- Use Pro‑Cloud software via a personal iPad to receive jobs, scan equipment, input vehicle readiness information, record stock withdrawals, and log emergency ambulance mileages.
- Identify and report any problems within the Pro‑Cloud system, escalating where required.
- Assist with emergency product recalls, isolation of affected equipment, and ensure accurate labeling, storage, and distribution of consumables.
- Undertake function and assurance checks on complex medical devices and other equipment according to SOP.
- Secure cleaning chemicals and store them safely, ensuring they remain in date.
- Follow manual handling principles when lifting awkward and heavy items, using PPE and safety procedures.
- Report all health and safety risks, near misses, and accidents on the Trust Datix system.
- Drive Trust vehicles in accordance with all relevant procedures, logging all journeys.
Qualifications
- Current full manual UK Driving Licence (no more than 3 penalty points).
- Full C1 category on driving licence.
- Good standard of written and verbal English.
- Willingness to undertake any training required by LAS.
Experience
- 1 year of driving experience.
- Previous cleaning experience.
- Experience with stores, stocking, and checking.
- Experience working within a public service or customer care environment.
- Experience driving around London and larger vehicles.
Knowledge
- Ability to follow instructions and to work on own initiative.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good understanding of basic vehicle safety.
- Ability to follow processes and procedures.
- Basic computer skills/IT literate.
- Good interpersonal skills and team player.

- Ability to work with cleaning products (chemicals) for prolonged periods.
