Job Description:

OCU Group is continuing to grow at pace, delivering critical infrastructure across the utilities, energy, and digital sectors. As part of this expansion, we are looking for experienced Mechanical Fitters with a background in the water industry to join our team in Bridgend. This is an opportunity to be part of a business that is playing a key role in maintaining and improving essential water and wastewater infrastructure across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be working on a variety of water and wastewater projects, supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems. You will play a hands‑on role in ensuring that pumps, pipework, valves, and associated equipment are installed and operating safely and efficiently. Working from technical drawings and specifications, you will contribute to delivering high‑quality solutions in environments where safety and compliance are critical.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing and assembling mechanical components including pumps, valves, and pipework, sometimes fabricating elements where required. You will carry out fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical and fluid power systems, identifying issues and implementing effective solutions. A strong focus on health and safety is essential, particularly when working in regulated or confined environments, ensuring all activities are carried out in line with company and industry standards. A recognised mechanical qualification is required, along with a CSCS card or equivalent. Knowledge of water hygiene practices and experience working in confined spaces will be important for success in this role. Just as important is your ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively on site, and take a proactive approach to problem solving.
