Minibus Driver – Ongoing Temporary Contract
10–15 hours per month. Broxbourne Campus and Offsite. £16.38 per hour. Contract period: September 2026 to March 2027, possibly beyond. Pattern: driving College students to football away matches (around 2 sessions per month).
About the Role
This role supports student enrichment activities, ensuring learners can safely participate in off‑site sporting events.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport College students to and from football away fixtures in accordance with road‑traffic law and College procedures
- Ensure the safety and welfare of learners at all times while in transit
- Conduct and record pre‑ and post‑journey vehicle safety checks
- Keep the minibus clean, secure and roadworthy
- Report any defects, incidents or concerns promptly in line with College procedures
- Adhere to College safeguarding, health and safety, and driver conduct policies
- Drive in a professional, courteous manner and represent Hertford Regional College positively at all times
- Follow planned routes and schedules, with flexibility where required due to traffic or venue changes
- Liaise appropriately with College staff during journeys and at venues
Training & Compliance
- Holder of a Herts Certificate of Competence for minibus driving, completed before carrying learners
- Training arranged by the College in liaison with the successful candidate
- Compliance to HRG compliance process including: in‑person ID and proof of address verification; Enhanced DBS application (administered by HRG, cost £65.20 unless already held); 2 years of professional/character references; completion of several online training modules as stipulated by HRC
About You
- Good geographical knowledge of the local area
- Competence in undertaking daily vehicle safety checks and basic vehicle maintenance
- A calm, responsible and professional approach to driving
- Strong time‑management and reliability
- Understanding of, or willingness to follow, safeguarding procedures within an educational environment
Age & Driving Experience (Essential)
- Must be over 21 years of age; due to insurance requirements, minimum 25 years of age
- Minimum of 2 years’ driving experience
Licence Requirements (Essential)
- Current, clean and valid driving licence
- Either D1 unrestricted or D1 restricted (car licence obtained before 01 January 1997)
