We would like to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher of Science (with Biology) to join a successful and committed team of professionals. The successful candidate will possess outstanding teaching skills and ideally have experience teaching GCSE and A Level Biology.
At KS4, we offer AQA Combined Science and Separate Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), allowing students to achieve either two or three GCSEs. At KS5, we offer A-Level courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, alongside Level 3 Applied Science, providing a broad and ambitious pathway for students who are passionate about science.
Our Science curriculum is designed to develop analytical, curious and resilient learners who can predict, investigate, analyse and evaluate through a wide range of practical activities. The department is committed to high‑quality teaching, strong outcomes and fostering a love of science, supporting students to pursue further study and careers in STEM fields.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly motivated learning community of approximately 1000 students (including 205 in the Sixth Form) where we have a deep‑rooted belief in professional development. In exchange for hard work and a commitment to the school, we will ensure you are prepared for the next stage in your teaching career.
At St Joseph’s we challenge our teachers to “love the children, and to let them know that they are loved,” through everything we do with our students to “unlock the belief” in themselves and others. To support teachers in this mission, we provide:
- Behaviour system that empowers teachers to teach effectively.
- Weekly CPD and training opportunities.
- Inclusion in our reading and electives programme.
- A supportive community that cares for each other like a family.
Our GCSE results for Summer 2025 were exceptionally strong, with 68% of students achieving Grade 4+ in English and Maths, 43% achieving Grade 5+ in English and Maths, and an overall Progress 8 score of +0.45.
Join an outstanding Catholic school where the Catholic ethos permeates every aspect of school life and staff are deeply committed to the mission of the school, creating a culture where pupils flourish (Section 48 Inspection, 2025).
St Joseph’s is a successful, oversubscribed Catholic secondary school within easy reach of both the M4 and M40 motorways and the Elizabeth Line directly into London.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The school complies with the DBS Code of Practice regarding criminal record information and will not discriminate unfairly against any applicant on the basis of a conviction or other information revealed. A copy of the school’s Child Protection Policy is available on request.
All members of staff will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, and this is a condition of employment at the school. As part of our safer recruitment procedures, online and social media checks may be carried out on shortlisted candidates in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
You are welcome and encouraged to visit the school and have a tour at a time convenient to all.
