Health Care Assistant
Hours: Flexible/Agency/Ad Hoc.
Pay rate: From £13.45 (PAYE – not via umbrella). Holiday pay is separate, NOT inclusive of your hourly pay (i.e., £12.71 + holiday pay). Location: CF35.
What you’ll be doing:
Your role is to provide support and care for elderly residents within nursing and residential homes. You will assist with personal care needs such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and support daily living activities while promoting independence and safety. You will also support residents with mental health, dementia, learning disabilities and physical health, encouraging participation in activities. The position includes long days, night, and split shifts.
As part of a team you will deliver high quality care, respect residents’ choices, and communicate effectively, including with those who use non‑verbal communication.
When working on agency, you may also assist clients with learning disabilities, hostels, homelessness, children and young people, mental health and more, encouraging them to live fully.
Requirements:
- 6 months UK‑based care experience in the last year or a year in the last five years
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
- Willingness to undergo DBS and reference checks
- Willingness to undertake personal care
- Approachable, friendly, proactive and engaged with service users
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
