Overview
At Axcis we are looking for an SEN/SEND teaching assistant to work full-time, 8:30 to 3:30 during term time, in a large secondary inclusive school in Swindon. The role will support KS3 students with a range of SEN needs including ASD, CLD, and challenging behaviour, within a dedicated team of teaching and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Support a range of KS3 students with SEN/SEND needs, particularly Autism spectrum disorder, with the provision of a SEN resource.
- Assist with adapting lessons and activities to meet individual learning needs, including use of PECS, BSL or Makaton where required.
- Work both independently and as part of a small team to ensure consistent support for students.
- Build and maintain strong rapport with students and help foster a positive learning environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified teaching assistant with experience working with ASD pupils.
- Varied SEN experience and a calm, understanding approach.
- Experience supporting other SEN conditions is desirable.
- Knowledge of PECS, BSL or Makaton would be desired.
Additional Information
Salary will be dependent on skills and experience. This role is temporary unless stated otherwise. The position will commence in September and is an ongoing role with potential to lead to a permanent position.
