Social Worker – Fostering – Supervision and Support Team

Location: Cable Plaza, Brierley Hill, Dudley, DY5 1LW.

Grade 9 to 10 – salary subject to experience.

The Role

This role is part of the Fostering Service, focusing on supervision and support of foster carers, with involvement in kinship and assessment activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support mainstream foster carers and new mainstream households.
• Co‑operate with kinship and assessment teams to share caseloads and ensure a fair distribution.
• Conduct initial viability assessments on a rota basis.
• Assist in the recruitment and placement of new foster carers.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with children’s teams.
• Participate in and help deliver training and development activities.
• Engage in regular support groups with foster carers.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Fully qualified social worker (social work degree or equivalent).
• Minimum of 12 months post‑qualification statutory social care experience.
• Completed post‑qualification first year of specialist experience (ASYE).
• Experience or interest in matching and supporting new foster carers is desirable.
• Strong collaborative, relationship‑building and communication skills.
