- Pay based on Single Status Grade 5 point 12 (£25,989 fte). Term‑time salary: £19,722.
The Role
The Southfield Trust offers a significant opportunity for a dedicated individual to assume the role of Inclusion & Behaviour Support Officer at The Lindfield School. This position delivers an inclusive, safe and ambitious education for all pupils, ensuring that behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and wellbeing do not become barriers to learning or achievement.
The post holder will provide early intervention, targeted support and restorative practice to promote engagement, emotional regulation and positive relationships, particularly for pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, or vulnerability factors. The role directly contributes to improved attendance, reduced suspensions and exclusions, successful reintegration, and sustained access to a full curriculum.
About You
- Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
- Strong understanding of behaviour support, de‑escalation and positive behaviour management.
- Ability to remain calm, resilient and professional during challenging situations.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of inclusive education and barriers to learning.
- Awareness of SEND Code of Practice.
- Understanding of attendance guidance and persistent absence.
- Ability to support pupils to access learning, not only manage behaviour.
- Ability to record, monitor and evaluate impact of interventions.

Employment Conditions
The post is permanent, subject to a successful probationary year. Employment will be subject to pre‑employment checks including satisfactory DBS Enhanced clearance and references. This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018.
