Are you looking for a rewarding and engaging role in complex clinical care? We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a support worker to work alongside our client with complex needs in Sketty, Swansea.
Shift type
Both days and waking nights are available.
Hours
Days – Up to full-time hours (weekdays 08:00-11:12:00 & 14:15-19:00, weekends 09:00-15:00 & half term 08:30-19:00). Nights – Waking nights up to full-time hours (22:00 – 07:00).
About the Role
You’ll be supporting a young boy who has complex needs due to a brain injury, including dystonia, epilepsy, visual impairment and communication difficulties. We’re looking for someone with experience in complex care and the ability to build a strong, supportive relationship through clear communication and empathy.
He lives at home with his family and enjoys playing, reading stories, being outdoors, swimming and skiing. Most of all he enjoys time with his family and playing with his sister. Your role will be to support him physically and emotionally, helping him live life to the fullest.
What We’re Looking For
- Paediatric experience, ideally with brain injuries.
- A genuine passion for care and making a difference
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature
- Reliable, committed, and flexible approach
- Experience in complex care and managing challenging behaviours
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
You’ll need to be confident working independently and collaboratively, with the ability to build a trusting relationship with the client and his family.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring condition overnight
- Support with daily/nightly routines
- Administer medication
- Assist with personal hygiene and mobility
- Administer medication and monitor health
- Provide emotional support and companionship
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members
