Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Senior Technician within our national ground investigation team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality site-based services across a wide range of sectors including development, water, defence and infrastructure. The role is predominantly site-focused, supporting geotechnical and geo-environmental investigations through monitoring, sampling and in-situ testing. You will also contribute to the effective management of equipment, site logistics and technical data collection, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Your Impact

You will be instrumental in generating accurate ground and environmental data that informs engineering decisions and risk assessments. Your work will underpin project delivery, ensuring clients receive reliable insights to progress their schemes with confidence. You will also support the development of best practice on site, contributing to a strong health, safety and quality culture.

Core Capabilities

  • Technical Monitoring & Sampling — land gas and groundwater monitoring, low flow sampling, multi-parameter measurements, managing dataloggers and inclinometer monitoring.
  • Site Investigation & Testing — in-situ testing such as permeability testing and supporting geotechnical and environmental sampling.
  • Equipment & Asset Management — maintain and manage field equipment including CAT, Genny, dip meters and hand vanes, ensuring all assets are available, calibrated and fit for purpose.
  • Health, Safety & Environment — apply strong health, safety and environmental practices in all site activities, contributing to a proactive and compliant safety culture.
  • Collaboration & Communication — work effectively within site and project teams, communicating clearly with colleagues and stakeholders to support efficient project delivery.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Previous experience in a similar ground investigation or site-based role is essential. You will have a strong understanding of HSE practices, be confident using relevant software and equipment, and be comfortable working in a highly site-based environment. A full UK driving licence is required, along with a willingness to travel and stay overnight when needed. Certifications such as CSCS, CAT, Genny, SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid or Water Hygiene are advantageous.

Working Environment

This is a predominantly site-based role (circa 90%), involving travel across the UK and may involve some overnight stays. When not on site, there is flexibility for home or office-based work depending on project requirements. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive technical team, with tailored training and development to support your career progression.
