This post is considered by KCC to be a customer‑facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, outgoing and approachable service to customers.
  • Work 6 hours per week across a range of hours, including every Saturday.
  • May be required to undertake periods of lone working and work at other locations across the Maidstone Library district.
  • Perform a diverse range of tasks in a customer‑facing role.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable meeting and engaging with the public.
  • Positive outlook and good personal resilience.
  • Ability to carry out a diverse range of tasks.
  • Basic library experience is not essential.
