PSV/HGV Mechanical Fitter – Portsmouth – Hilsea

About the Role

At First Bus, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, completing vehicle repairs, including preparing vehicles for MOTs, and attending breakdowns. You will follow our Standard Engineering Operating Procedures, meet safety and compliance requirements, and work as part of the engineering team to keep our buses operational.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out servicing on PSV/HGV vehicles
• Complete vehicle repairs and prepare vehicles for MOTs
• Attend breakdowns as required
• Follow Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) legislation and Group policies
• Maintain high technical standards and develop skills
• Work flexibly across different depot locations within the region
• Be prepared to work shifts (5 days over 7) and early/lates, with potential overtime

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds Level 1/2)
• Full UK driving licence
• PCV licence desired; willingness to obtain PCV licence essential
• Flexible approach to working hours and shifts (5 days over 7)
• Willingness to undergo background checks as part of the recruitment process
