Embroidery Machine Operator – Role Overview

As an embroidery operator at East London Printers, you will be responsible for running our commercial embroidery machines, ensuring high-quality stitching, and helping us deliver premium branded garments for our customers.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of commercial embroidery experience
  • Confident operating Tajima and Brother embroidery machines
  • Strong understanding of fabric types and correct stabiliser selection
  • Confident hooping a wide range of garments: caps, bags, polos, fleece, hoodies, sportswear, etc.
  • Ability to thread, tension and troubleshoot machines quickly and efficiently
  • Experience replacing needles, rotary hooks, bobbins, trimmers and other consumable parts
  • Good understanding of stitch types, densities and push/pull compensation
  • Ability to read and run DST files and make on-machine adjustments where needed
  • Strong quality control focus: tension, alignment, registration and overall stitch quality
  • Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced production environment
  • Familiar with thread colour charts and conversions (e.g. Madeira, RA, Coats)
  • Maintains a tidy, organised workstation and follows production workflows

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cap frames and tubular framing systems
  • Basic digitising knowledge (Wilcom, Pulse, or similar) – not essential but an advantage
  • Ability to perform minor embroidery machine maintenance
  • Experience handling large production runs and batching jobs efficiently
  • Understanding of garment finishing, trimming and packing standards
