Job Description:

Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Family Support & Protection Team to work full time based in Southend.

Salary: up to £45,091 per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and comprehensive casework to a caseload of children and young people appropriate to experience and capabilities.
  • Ensure the highest professional standards and maintain good knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation, and practice methods.
  • Deliver an efficient and cost‑effective service to children, young people and their families, ensuring their needs are professionally assessed.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and analyse case information, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidence of conclusions, and realistic action plans, with adequate recording that evidences practice.
  • Ensure all case management complies with statutory requirements and the Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit written reports, including statements and care plans for care proceedings in Family Proceedings, County, and High Courts.
  • Keep the Team Manager fully apprised of problems arising from workload and seek advice as necessary.
  • Proactively liaise with and work in partnership with other agencies, organisations, parents, and carers.
  • Attend conferences, reviews, and courts as required for each case, presenting the Council’s plans and opinions with professionalism and integrity.
  • Participate effectively in regular formal structured supervision from the Line Manager, in team and other meetings; assist in identifying and participating in individual development or other training opportunities to improve competencies required for the role.
  • Familiarise with Health & Safety procedures and good practice, implementing these in all aspects of working practice and promoting them within the team and workplace.
  • Contribute to a culture that values people for their positive contributions to work and encourages and supports high standards of interpersonal behaviour and professional performance.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required, appropriate for grades of posts up to and including this grade, including covering for other posts.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Social Work.
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Post‑qualifying Social Work experience.
