Overview
Working Times: Daytime hours – weekdays or weekends (flexible by agreement). We are seeking a calm, reliable, and understanding Personal Assistant to support a quiet and considerate young man who is socially vulnerable and has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role focuses on promoting independence, confidence, and social development in a supportive and respectful manner. The Personal Assistant will provide one-to-one support to help develop daily living and social skills, both at home and in the community.
Responsibilities
- Promoting independence and confidence
- Supporting the development of social skills and social connections
- Assisting with daily living tasks, including:
- Menu planning
- Food shopping
- Developing cooking skills
- Supporting with travelling in the community
- Accompanying and supporting attendance at social and community activities
- Providing encouragement in a calm, patient, and respectful way
- Understanding the challenges of living with ASD is essential
- Patient, quiet, and considerate approach
- Reliable, trustworthy, and flexible
- Able to encourage independence while offering appropriate support
- Own transport is not essential
Qualifications / Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check essential
- References will be required
- Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
