Purpose of Position

The Simulator Second in Command (SIC) is responsible for maintaining currency in assigned programs to act as “Second‑in‑Command” for both internal and external Customer Pilots for recurrent, initial, or generic training courses within the established training curriculum.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Act as Second‑in‑Command for clients training in multi‑crew aircraft without a flying partner, performing all non‑instructional duties.
  • Maintain pilot qualification in accordance with program requirements.
  • Maintain qualification under FlightSafety International’s Quality Management System processes and procedures.
  • Keep all required certificates, ratings and designations current.
  • Act as SIC in various types of aircraft for Part 142, EASA, and other clients as required.
  • Assist the program with administrative duties as required.

Minimum Experience

  • Commercial Pilot License with multi‑engine instrument rating, advanced UPRT, ATPL theory, MCC and at least 70 hours PIC, held prior to assignment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent cockpit verbal communication skills.
  • Professional interaction with various Customers.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high‑pressure situations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Perform tasks that involve using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Personnel may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The job also requires frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and working near moving mechanical parts, in high or precarious places, and in outdoor weather conditions.

Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
