Adults and Specialist Rehabilitation have an amazing opportunity offering full time and part time (34.50hrs, 30hrs and 23hr) vacancies for Band 2 Healthcare Assistant, on a fixed term basis of 6 months. During this six-month period, the employee will be supported in meeting the required skills and competencies to achieve the standards required of a Band 2 HCA. Following completion of this, there may be opportunities to progress as a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant, as part of our ongoing development programmes without having to interview for the position.

The successful applicant will be required to work shifts on weekends, nights and bank holidays, over 24 hours 7 days a week, to meet service needs.

Main duties of the job

Adults and Specialist Rehabilitation Division, within Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, delivers a range of specialist services to older adults. We are currently recruiting dedicated and motivated healthcare assistants to West Heath Hospital and Moseley Hall Hospital, Individuals will be expected to deliver and maintain a high standard of clinical care and to assist in the delivery of all aspects of individualized personal care.

Qualifications

  • Essential Skills – literacy and numeracy
  • NVQ level 2 in health and social care or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of vocational or other training relevant to role

Experience

  • Relevant experience of caring for older adults in home/hospital/care home setting
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people

Skills and Knowledge

  • Cleanliness and Infection control
  • Privacy, Dignity and Respect
  • Confidentiality
  • Understanding of Caring for vulnerable people

  • Good interpersonal skills

Other Job Requirements

  • Flexible and willing to work across wards/sites according to service need
  • Willing to work shifts across seven days and rotate between day and night duty (subject to flexible working arrangements)
