Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 (depending on experience)

Reporting to: Registered Branch Manager

This is a varied, purpose-driven role combining strategic planning, relationship‑building, and hands‑on delivery. You’ll be at the heart of our community work – listening, connecting, and turning insight into action.

About the Role

As Community Engagement Officer, you will:

  • Act as a key link between Calderdale HomeCare, local communities, and partner organisations
  • Ensure our services and programmes are inclusive, responsive, and community‑led
  • Represent Calderdale HomeCare positively across Newcastle and Gateshead

You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners, helping shape engagement activity that supports community wellbeing and strengthens trust.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Consultation

  • Design and deliver community engagement strategies
  • Lead consultations to gather feedback, identify needs, and inform service development
  • Ensure community voices are heard and acted upon

Programmes, Events & Activities

  • Plan and deliver community events, workshops, and engagement activities
  • Ensure programmes are impactful, inclusive, and aligned with organisational goals

Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local organisations, community groups, and stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration to increase reach and impact

Communication & Advocacy

  • Act as a trusted point of contact for community partners
  • Represent Calderdale HomeCare at events, forums, and meetings
  • Communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally on behalf of the organisation

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of engagement activity
  • Contribute to reports, evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives

Inclusion & Cultural Awareness

  • Promote respect, inclusion, and cultural understanding in all engagement work
  • Support engagement with diverse communities and groups

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisation and planning abilities
  • Confidence working with diverse community groups
  • Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to turn insight into action
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and digital tools

Experience

  • Around 2+ years’ experience in community engagement, programme delivery, project management, or a related field
  • Experience in community consultation, partnership working, or event delivery is highly desirable
