A Little About Our Wednesbury Site
Our advanced manufacturing site in Wednesbury, West Midlands, is our newest advanced manufacturing site, and we’ve invested around £4.7 million into state‑of‑the‑art facilities. It is a flagship Added Value centre for Avara, employing over 150 talented individuals who supply some of the UK’s largest supermarkets and popular restaurants.
About The Role
We are looking for a highly competent and motivated Materials Scheduler to join our team at the Wednesbury site. The role is predominantly office based, with some time in the factory. Working Monday to Friday 08:00‑17:00.
What will you be doing as a Materials Scheduler at Avara?
You will ensure that strategic material planning processes are in place to enable operational and production continuity. You will also lead the coordination with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure materials are in place to satisfy all production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set‑up weekly scheduling tool with administrator to ensure accurate ordering of materials
- Work towards accurate stock hold position in‑line with MRP manager agreed targets
- Propose cost saving plans through accurate call‑offs of materials with economies of scale
- Review with administrator exceptions & variances to help raise awareness of opportunities and then feed back to manager and wider teams
- Work closely with internal stakeholders such as operations, wider planning, procurement, technical & NPD
- Establish strong relations with external suppliers to leverage strong supply‑chain bonds
- Work on process improvement ideas that work towards the MRP manager’s department targets
- Drive accountability at site on areas of over‑usage identified against costed standards
- Support cover for ROP admin tasks when called upon
What you’ll need to be successful
- Strong understanding of process management
- Previous experience in process optimisation, operations or business management
- FMCG experience understanding the demands of high turnover, short shelf‑life products, with a broad knowledge of many disciplines within an organisation
- Ability to work under high pressure and to tight deadlines
- Strategic and analytical mindset
- Team player who can work across a large cross‑functional group
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels
