Role Overview

You’ll steer our Studio operations and make sure everything runs smoothly. It involves keeping all the moving parts, such as scheduling, logistics and compliance, tidy, organised and on track so every shoot comes together just as it should.

You’ll be a supportive and encouraging leader for the Studio team, helping everyone do their best work and move in the same direction. You’ll also work closely with teams across the wider business, bringing them along on the journey and championing the value of getting our photography compliance right.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys bringing order to creative chaos, loves a clear plan and is happy to roll up their sleeves when things get busy.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing the studio and location shoots end-to-end process and supporting each area as needed, with a particular focus on shoot coordination and delivery.
  • Planning, refining and executing the shoot schedule and briefing between the Studio and external PDP Studio, and effectively communicating updates to key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the studio team and ensuring it has the optimum resource to deliver agreed targets to the best standard.
  • Manage set build internally, including forecasting and booking any additional freelance resource, as well as sourcing and booking location houses.
  • Manage timings on set to ensure all teams maximise the available time and are meeting efficiency (time saving) targets.
  • Provide feedback and insight to enable improvements to the studio processes and elevate standards.
  • Working with business stakeholders to constantly develop and refine processes into and within the studio.
  • You’ll be the link between the studio team and Head Office and the wider business, collaborating effectively and building strong relationships as well as supporting all operational imagery requirements.
  • Initiating new projects and tasks, briefing key teams, and driving projects forward.
  • Overseeing competitor and software reviews to ensure that the Dunelm studio is always best in class.
  • Implementing bespoke learning and development to deliver a high-performing and engaged team.
  • Working to agreed budgets in conjunction with other management team members and ensuring that they are kept to.
  • Support the Senior Manager on budgeting & forecasting, and drive cost saving efficiencies, as well as maintain rigorous financial records and ensure all PO’s are raised, and expenses processed in a timely manner.
  • Leading weekly department meetings and regular 1-2-1s with your direct reports, championing their individual development and enhancing their overall success.
  • Leading Daily Stand-Ups in Studio to enable good collaboration throughout, and ensure all teams are briefed on the daily schedule and outputs and any challenges are aired and discussed/resolved.
  • Liaising with external freelancers to manage bookings and provision of PO’s. Set up and onboard new freelancers.
  • Manage all general duties relating to the efficient running of the studio, including but not limited to ensuring that all shoots comply with Health and Safety requirements, and all equipment is in a good, safe, and efficient working condition – and that all relevant documentation is completed and stored as required.

What we’ll look for in you

  • Proven experience shooting on location (UK).
  • Experience in delivering photographic assets for multi-channel activity to short timescales.
  • Proven record of learning retrospectively and using past projects to help inform better results in the future.
  • Experience of planning and scheduling set build and shoot production – including all crew requirements.
  • An understanding of pre- and post-photo shoot production.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to critique not just your own work, but the work of those around you.
  • Strong problem management skills:the ability to navigate and respond quickly to challenges.
  • A calm and positive temperament:comfortable with problem-solving and working with others to come up with solutions.
  • Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity:due to the fast-paced nature of our business, flexibility is essential. The ideal candidate must find changes to their role, within their work and for the business an exciting challenge, rather than overwhelming.
  • Dedication and ambition for the Dunelm studio is essential.
  • An excellent communicator: you’ll need to have excellent verbal and written communications skills and a diplomatic nature.
  • Experience in communicating upwards and downwards required and in a concise and succinct manner.
